Theory-Based Instruction

Simulated learning environments provide students with a hands- on learning opportunity in an interactive and adaptable setting. Students are provided a multi-faceted clinical background without patient risks. UCM’s nine-credit hour series prepares  you to become a cutting-edge simulation educator.

Curriculum

NUR 5110 Simulation Education and Facilitation (three-credit-hours)

Designed to explore the pedagogy of simulation education as a teaching and learning method for educators within academic and clinical environments.

NUR 5120 Leadership and Management in Simulation (three-credit-hours)

Applies principles and components of the simulation pedagogy to simulation management.

NUR 5130 Simulation Education Capstone (three-credit-hours)

Analyze current issues and trends in simulation education, and complete your final project incorporating all program content.

Admission Requirements

To apply for the Simulation Education Certificate you must:

  • have a bachelor’s degree in a health sciences discipline with a minimum GPA of 3.00
  • have two years of clinical experience (preferred)
  • provide two professional references
  • submit a 250-word essay describing your purpose and goals for program participation
