Daniel Runnels

Assistant Professor, Spanish

Daniel is an Assistant Professor of Spanish at UCM. He works primarily on Latin American literature, culture, political thought, and critical theory. His research has appeared in Latin American and Caribbean Ethnic StudiesLatino Studies, Arizona Journal of Hispanic Cultural StudiesChiricú Journal: Latina/o Literatures, Arts, and CulturesIntervención y coyuntura (Mexico), and Revista Vorágine (Chile). He is working on a book tentatively titled Culture and the State in Latin America. He has published translation in venues like JacobinLatin American Literature TodayExchanges: Journal of Literary Translation, and Editorial Charmides, as well as translations of two book-length manuscripts: Argentine philosopher Jorge Alemán’s Lacan and Capitalist Discourse: Neoliberalism and Ideology (forthcoming with Routledge) and Alberto Moreiras’ Third Space and Other Accounts (forthcoming with Duke University Press, co-translation with Camila Moreiras).
