Ashley Miller-Scully (she/her) joined the UCM faculty in 2009 upon graduating from the University of New Mexico with an MFA in Dance Performance/Choreography and a BA in Performing Arts from Iowa State University. Since arriving at UCM, Ashley has achieved the rank of Professor of Dance and has been instrumental in the creation of the BFA Musical Theatre degree and Dance Minor. She has received both regional and national Kennedy Center American College Theatre Festival Meritorious Awards for her choreography and direction on UCM productions and her directorial/choreographic work has been featured in regional theaters, at KCACTF Region V, the Kansas City Fringe Festival and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in Scotland. Ashley is the 2018 recipient of the KCACTF/ATHE Region V Innovative Teaching Award, and from 2019-2023, Ashley was the Meridith Harmon Sauer Distinguished Professor of Theatre at UCM. Ashley served as a Board Member of the American College Dance Association Central Region (2021-2024) and is a member of the Speech & Theatre Association of Missouri, Musical Theatre Educators’ Alliance, National Dance Educators Organization, Missouri Dance Organization, and an Associate Member of the Stage Directors & Choreographers Society. Through completion of Level 1 and Level 2 Intimacy Directors and Coordinators (IDC) certification she earned an IDC Consent-Forward Artist Certificate in 2023. Additionally, Ashley holds certifications in YogaFit Levels 1 & 2, Ballroom Dance styles, Progressing Ballet Technique, Safe Zone Training, and Mental Health First Aid. As of Fall 2021, Ashley serves as the Chair of the UCM Division of Theatre & Dance.
