Research Areas:  Statistics Education, Statistical Change Point Analysis and its application to gene expression data, and actuarial science

Dr. Plummer received his BSE and MS in Mathematics from the University of Central Missouri in 1990 and 1995, respectively.  He received his Ph.D. in Statistics/Economics from the University of Missouri – Kansas City in 2012. Dr. Plummer joined the School of Computer Science and Mathematics in 2001 and is presently an Assistant Instructor of Statistics. Dr. Plummer is devoted to his students’ success and teaching excellence. He has presented at national meetings on topics related to teaching Introductory Statistics courses and design of Co-requisite Models for General Education Statistics Courses. He teaches introductory, upper level, as well as graduate level statistics courses and serves as an advisor for both undergraduate and graduate majors in Actuarial Science and Statistics as well as Bioinformatics. Dr. Plummer is a co-sponsor of UCM Statistics Club and The Actuarial Organization, student organizations within the school. He is actively engaged with the Kansas/Western Missouri Chapter of the American Statistical Association and currently serves as the Chapters Representative for its chapter of Mu Sigma Rho, statistics honor society.
