Qualifying students and their families are invited to attend one of two upcoming open
house events for Summit Technology Academy/Missouri Innovation Campus (MIC) program. The informative events are offered at 6 p.m. Jan. 12 and Feb. 2 at the Missouri
Innovation Campus in Lee鈥檚 Summit. To learn more about the open house opportunities,
visit this .
To participate in the program, students must attend one of Summit Technology Academy鈥檚
33 sending high schools. Students begin the program the summer before their junior
year, so the open house events are for current high-school sophomores. To qualify
for the MIC program, a 10th-grader must be accepted to the Lee鈥檚 Summit R-7 School
District鈥檚 Summit Technology Academy for their junior year, have a 3.0 minimum GPA,
95 percent attendance and test into college English and college algebra either on
the ACT or Accuplacer exams.
The recruitment process for the 2023-27 MIC program cohort will conclude at the MIC
program Enrollment Night on March 9. At this event, students meeting the program鈥檚
requirements are invited to enroll for the program, which will begin in June 2023.
Through the four-year MIC program students earn a bachelor鈥檚 degree just two years
after graduating high school while also participating in three-year, year-round, paid
internships with one of the program鈥檚 business partners. Students completing the MIC
program graduate with in-demand career-ready skills 鈥 all with little or no college
debt.
The 2023-27 cohort will be the 12th since the one-of-a-kind Missouri Innovation Campus
program started in 2012 with one academic program and three MIC business partners.
Since then, the program has expanded to include 70 business partners and six programs:
Software Development, Software Engineering, Cybersecurity, Design and Drafting, Big
Data/Business Analytics and Computer Information Systems.
