‘The Curtain Rises: Senior Showcase’ Performances Planned in April at UCM and at Kansas City’s Unicorn Theatre

WARRENSBURG, MO – The ŷƵ Division of Theatre and Dance presents “The Curtain Rises: Senior Showcase 2023” at 3 p.m. Thursday, April 13 at the Highlander Theatre on the UCM campus and at 7 p.m. Monday, April 24, on the Levin Stage at the Unicorn Theatre in Kansas City, Missouri.  Admission to both events is free. Doors open a half hour before each show for Bachelor of Fine Arts Theatre Design/Technology majors to showcase their portfolios and design work and for audiences to view performer headshots and resumes.

This year's showcase features performers presenting a variety of songs, monologues, and scenes to highlight the culmination of their collegiate theatre career. Professional theatre companies are invited to the Kansas City showcase to scout and network with the performers and designers for upcoming productions. 

The showcase includes seniors Mekdelawit Keller (BFA in Musical Theatre, minors: Dance and Women, Gender, and Sexuality Studies); Luke Habjan (BFA in Theatre Design and Technology); Rachel Curry (BFA in Musical Theatre,  m inor: Dance); Thomas Clark (BFA in Theatre Performance); Katie Marshall (BFA in Musical Theatre, with minors: Dance and Marketing); Jace Neilsen (BFA in Theatre Performance); Riley Given (BFA in Theatre Performance); and Hollie Neumann (BFA in Theatre Design nd Technology). Denise Robinson serves as musical accompanist and visiting assistant professor of theatre, and Jenise Cook serves as director and coordinator of the showcase.

Parking for the UCM Highlander showcase is available in the adjacent parking lot at Clark and Holden streets. The Kansas City showcase is located at the Unicorn Theatre, 3828 Main St., Kansas City, Missouri. For Unicorn Theatre parking, please be aware of the railway construction on Main Street.
