The Adam Larson Jazz Quintet performs in the 欧美视频's Hart
Recital Hall on Sept. 28 as part of the OVATON Performance Series.
WARRENSBURG, MO -- The 欧美视频 OVATION Performance Series presents
two concerts for the fall 2023 season. OVATION is a curated selection of world-class
dancers, musicians, and theatre performers who bring exceptional high-energy artistry
to West-Central Missouri.
The series opens at 7 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 28 with a performance by the Adam Larson
Jazz Quintet in Hart Recital Hall. The quintet will perform compositions from 鈥淣arrative,鈥
their debut record. Formed in New York City in December 2002, the band is comprised
of five renowned jazz artists: saxophonist Adam Larson, drummer John Kizilarmut, saxophonist
Chris Madsen, guitarist Scott Hesse, and bassist Clark Sommer. All five artists maintain
a national touring schedule as members of the quintet and on their own as solo performers.
Larson and Kizilarmut are mainstays of the Kansas City jazz scene, while Madsen, Hesse,
and Sommer are based in Chicago.
In October the SOLI Chamber Ensemble comes to Warrensburg. Celebrating its 30th anniversary
year, the group is dedicated to promoting music by living composers and was co-founded
by UCM Music Distinguished Alumna Carolyn True. Dr. True鈥檚 return to the UCM stage
will coincide with UCM Homecoming Weekend 2023. The performance will take place in
Hart Recital Hall at 7 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 22.
SOLI Chamber Ensemble is comprised of pianist Carolyn True, violinist Ertan Torgul,
clarinetist Stephanie Key, and cellist David Mollenauer. National recognitions have
included the 2013 Chamber Music America Award, an ASCAP Adventurous Programming Award,
and a 2020 Chamber Music America Classical Commissioning Grant.
Both programs are made possible by support from the Missouri Arts Council and the
UCM College of Arts, Humanities, and Social Sciences. Tickets for these events are
available at . General admission for OVATION Series events is $20, with $15 tickets available
for UCM employees, active military, and seniors 65+. Discounted student tickets are
