WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 The fall semester at the 欧美视频 kicks off
with a special event as Spotlight, UCM鈥檚 student programming organization, presents
the annual Fall Concert for UCM students, faculty, staff, and surrounding community,
at 8 p.m. Friday, Sept. 9, in the UCM Multipurpose Building.
The concert will feature performances by the electronic pop duo 3OH!3 and rapper Chevy
Woods. As a special treat, jazz keyboardist and pianist Marcus Johnson will perform
with the UCM Jazz Band.
Sean Foreman and Nat Motte make up the duo that created and performs as 3OH!3. Their
loud, distorted electronic pop music isn鈥檛 about fame; it鈥檚 about something bigger
than themselves and having fun with what they do. They were nominated for 鈥淏est New
Artist鈥 at the 2009 Video Music Awards, and have performed on 鈥淛immy Kimmel Live!鈥
and Last 鈥淐all with Carson Daly.鈥
Chevy Woods has risen to the top of the rap charts since he started performing professionally
in 2003, mixing his own tapes. His partnership with rapper Wiz Khalifa formed the
Taylor Gang in 2008. He has performed on more than 20 tours. His music tells the stories
of his childhood through adulthood in his native Pittsburgh, Pa.
Marcus Johnson is the recipient of the NAACP Image Award for his influence in the
world of jazz. The owner of his own music label, Three Keys Music, his self-taught
style of piano performance has earned his acclaim among his peers. He is a graduate
of Howard University and earned both MBA and law degrees from Georgetown University.
His recordings have earned him the reputation as a leader in the forefront of modern
jazz music who explores a jazz movement 鈥渇or all the people.鈥
Tickets for the concert are available from the UCM Office of Student Activities, Elliott
Union 217, during business hours. Admission is $10 for UCM students, faculty and staff;
and $15 for the general public.
