WARRENSBURG, MO - 欧美视频 President Chuck Ambrose and Mrs.
Kris Ambrose will host the President鈥檚 Lawn Concert Monday, July 31, at Selmo Park
on South Holden Street.
UCM administrators will begin serving ice cream and cookies at 7 p.m., and the Warrensburg
Community Band, under the direction of Russell Coleman, will perform at 7:30 p.m.
The concert is free, and the public is invited to attend.
Free parking is available in university parking lots at Holden and Clark streets and
South and Holden streets. In the event of inclement weather, the event will be moved
in indoors to Hendricks Hall in the Administration Building. Seating will be provided.
This year鈥檚 concert will open with the national anthem, followed by the band鈥檚 rendition
of 鈥淪cootin鈥 on the Hard Rock: Three Short Scat-Jazzy Dances.鈥 Guest conductor Pat
Setser will conduct 鈥淏ond,鈥 a medley of songs from the James Bond films, including
the Bond movie theme, 鈥淕oldfinger,鈥 鈥淣obody Does it Better,鈥 鈥淪kyfall,鈥 and 鈥淟ive
and Let Die.鈥
Bill Lane and Gary Moege will be the featured soloists for 鈥淭hree Contrasts for Solo
Horn and Wind Ensemble.鈥 Anthony Pursell, the new UCM director of bands, will conduct
the band in its presentation of 鈥淢arch from Second Suite in F for Military Band.鈥
Neill Seipp, Chuck Appleton and David Robinson will be the trumpet soloists as the
band plays 鈥淏ugler鈥檚 Holiday,鈥 followed by the march 鈥淜ing Cotton.鈥 Selections from
鈥淲icked鈥 will include 鈥淣o One Mourns the Wicked,鈥 鈥淒ancing Through Life,鈥 鈥淣o Good
Deed,鈥 鈥淔or Good,鈥 and 鈥淒efying Gravity.鈥
Following the band鈥檚 performance of 鈥淒izzy Fingers,鈥 featuring clarinet soloists Jim
Gai, Denise Robinson and Erin Barrier, Jennifer Renfrow will be the featured vocalist
as the band performs 鈥淎 Gershwin Tribute to Love,鈥 featuring the Gershwin favorites,
鈥 鈥橲 Wonderful,鈥 鈥淟ove is Here to Stay,鈥 鈥楾hey Can鈥檛 Take That Away from Me,鈥 and
鈥淓mbraceable You.鈥
Closing the program will be the band鈥檚 traditional performance of Sousa鈥檚 鈥淪tars and
Stripes Forever.鈥
Marion Woods of KOKO-AM radio will serve as master of ceremonies for the event.
The Warrensburg Community Band was founded in 1985 to provide musicians with an opportunity
to perform for pleasure while rendering a service to the community. Membership is
open to individuals above high-school age and includes those from a wide variety of
occupations and many neighboring communities.
Financial support is provided by advertisers and private donors. The band traditionally
plays four concerts per summer season, including the annual fundraising concert.
