WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 The 欧美视频 will celebrate the 10th anniversary
of its designation as an All-Steinway School with a piano concert presented by the
students and faculty of the Department of Music at 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 9, in Hart
Recital Hall.
Mia Hynes and Albert Kim, members of the piano faculty, will perform in duet. Also
featured will be solo performances by piano students Abigail Terrill and Kristine
Reinagel in honor of emeriti professors Richard Smith and Wesley and Marilyn True,
whose named scholarships continue to support a new generation of piano majors at UCM.
Featured on the Hart Recital Hall stage will be the newest Steinway concert grand
piano. To celebrate the completion of the university鈥檚 acquisition of Steinway and
Boston pianos, the Hart Recital Hall piano will be named in honor Smith and True.
UCM earned its designation as an All-Steinway School in January 2006 with the initial
purchase of 26 Boston pianos, which are produced by Steinway. With the second purchase
of 22 pianos December 2006, which included a Steinway concert grand piano and three
smaller Steinway pianos, UCM earned its All-Steinway School designation.
鈥淲ith the final acquisition of 13 pianos in October 2016, which included a second
nine-foot concert grand for the Hart Recital Hall stage, the university completed
the replacement of several older Steinway pianos that were in disrepair, fulfilling
its commitment to making 100 percent of our pianos ready to serve generations of UCM
students.鈥 Hynes said.
鈥淚t鈥檚 only fitting that we celebrate this milestone anniversary with the dedication
of the concert grand piano on the Hart Recital Hall stage to the individuals who dedicated
their careers to providing instruction to generations of UCM piano students,鈥 Hynes
added.
