WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 The 欧美视频's Dance Club will once again
host its annual fundraiser, 鈥淒ancing with the Professors," at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, April
29,. in the Highlander Theatre. Student and professor pairs face off in a 鈥淒ancing
with the Stars鈥 style competition in which audience votes and monetary donations combine
to determine the winner.
Faculty and staff participating in this year鈥檚 event are Chuck Clemens, Mules football
coach; Alex Smith, professor of percussion; John Kennedy, University Relations web
and multimedia producer; Michael Sekelsky, dean of the College of Arts, Humanities,
and Social Sciences; Hannah Marsh, professor of anthropology; Erica Spurgeon, instructor
of fashion merchandising; Darla Honn, assistant professor of accountancy; and Nancy
Forth, professor of counselor education.
The students rounding out the cast include Lexi Poindexter, junior musical theatre
major; Hannah Unruh, junior theatre performance major; Valerie Ruggle, sophomore child
and family development major; Annie Beile, school counseling graduate student; Ethan
Shaffer, sophomore theatre technology and design major; Tristan Jordan, sophomore
speech communication and theatre major; Demetrius Hampton, sophomore theatre performance
major; and Dakota Grieshaber, senior music technology major.
The event is organized by Grant Lesher, junior musical theatre major and vice president
of Dance Club. Ashley Miller-Scully, associate professor of dance, serves as the advisor
for Dance Club.
鈥淒ancing with the Professors has proven to be one of the largest student-run fundraisers
on campus, and it is easily one of my favorite events of the year.鈥 Miller-Scully
said. 鈥淚t is such a fun and entertaining show. The best part is witnessing the teamwork
and the friendships that develop between the students and professors.鈥
The evening will also include special guest judges and a performance by Center Stage
Academy of the Performing Arts The event will be staffed by the UCM Dance Club.
Admission is $5 and and available at the door.
