UCM College of Education Announces Dieckman’s Appointment as Director and Certification Officer

By Jeff Murphy, September 22, 2020

 Andi Dieckman

WARRENSBURG - For over a decade, Andrea (Andi) Dieckman has been a part of UCM as both an undergraduate and graduate student, a staff member for units across campus, and an adjunct instructor for three of the university’s four colleges. Her experiences as student, staff, and faculty have prepared her well for her appointment as Director and Certification Officer of the Office of Clinical Services and Certification in the College of Education.

Robert Lee, dean of the College of Education, announced Diekman’s appointment, which became effective Sept. 16 after a search waiver was approved. The Missouri State Board of Education requires that, among other standards, institutions that prepare pre-service educator candidates for certification include among their staff a Certification Officer to serve as the liaison between the institution and relevant state agencies. Dieckman succeeds Bill Runyan who served in this capacity from 2017-2020.

While at UCM, Dieckman has served as an advisory member to the COE Curriculum Committee, Advisory Board for CSPA Academic Advising, UCM First Year Experience Committee, Success Advising Enrollment Lab, and was a member of the university’s Degree Plans, Progress and Policies Team. She was also awarded UCM’s Advisor of the Year Award (2019), MACADA Advisor of the Year (2019), and most recently the NACADA Region 7 Excellence in Advising Award (2020).

“Andi’s extensive knowledge of our certification programs, strong reputation across campus, and her experience providing guidance to our students will be critical as we continue our work toward streamlining student support services” said Lee. “The Office of Clinical Services and Certification is an integral unit that engages and builds collaborative partnerships with our school district partners across the state while also helping our students feel welcome from the moment they step foot on our campus to the day when they transition into their clinical and internship sites” said Lee.

Commenting on this new opportunity, Dieckman noted, “Education has played such an important role in my life and shaped me into the person I am today. Teachers were a huge part of that for me and are a vital role in our society. I look forward to working with future educators across the spectrum of our preparation areas to meet their goals and I am excited to continue building relationships within the college, with faculty, community and partner school districts.”

Dieckman’s academic background includes a MS in Educational Technology (2017), an MBA in Ethical and Strategic Leadership (2015), and a BA in Management (2011) all from UCM.
