WARRENSBURG, MO 鈥 The is exhibiting its 53rd annual Student Citation Show March 22-April 3. The citation
show will feature art from UCM students who are majoring or minoring in an art degree
program. Over 30 recognitions, awards and scholarships will be distributed to students
who excel in design and studio artwork.
The UCM Gallery of Art and Design has showcased premier art and creative works from
students and acclaimed artists for over 50 years. Artists such as Melissa Wilkinson,
Kyle McKenzie and John Rufenacht have all had exhibitions hosted by the gallery within
the past five years. The annual student citation show is a great opportunity for talented
students to showcase their projects in the same place as career artists.
A juried exhibition, the annual student citation show showcases work created by undergraduate
students during their studies at UCM. The citation show is an opportunity to showcase
high-quality art created by students in a professional environment while allowing
the public to enjoy art created by their peers and colleagues. This year will be juried
by Kansas City visual artist, printmaker, UCM alum Dustin Williams.
Art from a variety of mediums will be on display throughout the gallery. Up to two
exhibition-ready pieces were submitted by student artists, student interior designers,
student graphic designers, and student animators throughout the first half of March
before spring break.
鈥淭his is one of my favorite exhibits of the year, it is always great to show studio
and design work from students that have been working on their projects this past year,鈥
said Gallery Director Christian Cutler. 鈥淏ecause students are limited to only two
projects, the show favors quality artwork over quantity.鈥
To promote safety, a virtual awards reception is planned for 3:30 p.m, Wednesday,
March 31, a virtual link to the event will be published at the time of the event.
The awards reception will showcase the winning art pieces from the exhibit.
The UCM Gallery of Art and Design is located at 217 E Clark St, Warrensburg, and operates
Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 5 p.m. with extended hours 8 a.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday
