UCM Receives DEWEY Funding to Increase Recruitment and Retention of Teaching Candidates
As the 欧美视频 continues improving recruitment and retention of teaching candidates, it has received a $70,000 DEWEY Award from the Missouri Department of Elementary and Secondary Education to help with those efforts.

College of Education Dean Receives Excellence in Governance Award March 22
In recognition of her outstanding public service and for her efforts to prepare Missouri educators, Ann McCoy, Ph.D., dean of the 欧美视频 College of Education, will receive the highest honor presented by students. The UCM Student Government Association will recognize her publicly as the 2022 recipient of the James C. Kirkpatrick Excellence in Governance Award at 7 p.m. Tuesday, March 22, in the read and relaxation area, near the west entrance of the Kirkpatrick Library. The public is invited to attend this award presentation, which will be hosted by members of the SGA.

$1M Alumnus Gift to Benefit UCM's College of Education
The 欧美视频 Alumni Foundation is pleased to announce that alumnus Greg Thurman, 鈥�74, and his wife, Carla Thurman, of Franklin, Tennessee, have made a generous gift to the university. The gift of $1 million will fund the renovation of a gymnasium in the 53-year-old Lovinger Building into a state-of-the-art mixed-use educational facility.

UCM's Future Teacher Academy Attracts Approximately 450 Students to Explore Possible Careers as Educators
Where will tomorrow鈥檚 K-12 teachers come from? For many Missouri school districts, it鈥檚 possible these individuals will come from their own classrooms. At least this is one of the hopes of educators who planned and organized the Future Teacher Academy (FTA) at the 欧美视频, an event that brought approximately 450 middle school and high school students and 50 faculty sponsors to UCM.

The first step toward the 欧美视频鈥檚 goal to attain American Library Association (ALA) accreditation for the Master of Science in Library Science and Information Services (LIS) has succeeded. After reviewing a lengthy application submitted by university faculty, ALA鈥檚 Committee on Accreditation (COA) in June granted the program pre-candidacy status.

As she looks to a new chapter in her life, soon to retire as dean of the 欧美视频鈥檚 College of Health, Science and Technology, Alice Greife, Ph.D., has a few simple but powerful suggestions for UCM graduates. While she encourages them to dream big, even more important, she challenges them to become 鈥渄oers鈥� in pursuit of their dreams.

Kappa Delta Pi Seeks Support for Campus Cupboard Through T-shirt Sales
While red is one of the 欧美视频 school colors, faculty, staff and students in the College of Education recently got an extra dose of this warm hue as faculty, staff and students purchased and wore T-shirts in support of Kappa Delta Pi education honor society鈥檚 efforts to assist the Campus Cupboard and to benefit the KDP freshman student mentoring program.

For over a decade, Andrea (Andi) Dieckman has been a part of UCM as both an undergraduate and graduate student, a staff member for units across campus, and an adjunct instructor for three of the university鈥檚 four colleges. Her experiences as student, staff, and faculty have prepared her well for her appointment as Director and Certification Officer of the Office of Clinical Services and Certification in the College of Education.

Thomas Becomes Chair of School of Teaching and Learning July 1
After an internal search, the College of Education is pleased to announce that Dr. Matt Thomas will become the new chair for the School of Teaching and Learning. Thomas brings a wealth of experience to the role of school chair with more than 20 years of experience in the College of Education and nearly a decade of experience in K-12 teaching, administration, and consulting prior to joining UCM in 2000.

KMOS, UCM Launch Free On-air K-5 Classes for Missouri Students June 1
For families seeking economical assistance in preparing their elementary school children for the fall semester, and to make up for the school closures of the spring semester, KMOS-TV and the 欧美视频 will provide free on-air classes beginning June 1. KMOS Classroom: Summer School will be broadcast on KMOS channel 6.1 each Monday through Thursday between 9 a.m. and noon.
