Central Missouri Repertory to Present Children鈥檚 Touring Production: Aladdin and the Magic Lamp

By Ellen Blaize, June 1, 2018

Central Missouri Repertory Theatre will present Aladdin and the Magic Lamp by Kathryn Schultz Miller this summer at numerous locations during the month of June. Full of adventure and audience participation, Aladdin and the Magic Lamp is a light-hearted romp through childhood imagination. Bored with regular chores, Aldo and Cindy dream of a land of princesses, knights and dragons. Suddenly, as if in a dream, they are whisked away by a magician. The sorcerer needs a magic emerald from a cave, but only a boy can get in the cave. So begins Aladdin鈥檚 amazing journey where he saves his lady from the sultan and the fire-breathing dragon. Aladdin and the Magic Lamp is directed by Caleb Gazaway, a BFA Performance student at UCM.

Aladdin and the Magic Lamp will be on tour presenting public performances at several sites in west-central Missouri, including June 5 at Legacy Park Amphitheatre in Lee鈥檚 Summit with performances at 10 a.m. and 1 p.m.; June 6 at 9 a.m. in Clinton; June 7 at 11 a.m. at Camp Wonderland, Lake of the Ozarks; June 8 at 10 a.m. in Richmond; June 12 at 9:30 a.m. at the Lex Center, Lexington; June 13 at 10 a.m. in Carrollton; and June 14 at 10 a.m. in the UCM Highlander Theatre in Warrensburg. All performances are free. At the Highlander performance on June 14, canned food donations will be accepted as the suggested price of admission on behalf of UCM鈥檚 Campus Cupboard.
